Description

“The artwork was originally done in celebration of the Breastfeeding Awareness Month last August. It is to promote breastfeeding, to remember the children who died from the pandemic, and to promote the Manobo culture using their folktale deity Mebu'yan. Mebu'yan is both shared by the Bagobos and the Manobos though both have different perspectives about her. But in this artwork, leaning more to the Manobos, she is the deity of the underworld who helps screen people who passed on. Children below two years old will have to be nursed by her, and once they’re healthy, they can continue to go to Manama (their version of the Supreme Being).”

This print comes signed and numbered by the artist, with a signed Certificate of Authenticity (CoA).

About the Artist

Tin Javier is a self-taught artist from Cavite. Her earlier collage works were mostly inspired by people who are very important as historical figures, royalties, indigenous leaders, and folklores. She also loves painting children, animals, and plants.

Her collage style involves recycling used paper, reused stamps for color, and punched paper to add more style and texture to her work. She wants her art to express her environmental, child rights, and women empowerment advocacies and promote the Filipino cultures and traditions, and spread awareness about the indigenous people.
