Fold it, crumple it, fray the edges, or tear them completely. Set a sharp tip of graphite on the surface—giddily anticipate the scratch—and pull.
Although paper as a medium is often considered second fiddle in these parts, it plays to an old guitar. Any medium takes its qualities from what can be done with it, and the possibilities with paper have only broadened under contemporary art. It’s especially timely to consider now. As more artists turn to this accessible and versatile medium to create, Galerie Stephanie’s Position Paper (Year Three) could not have come at a better time.
Featuring all-paper artworks by over 50 participating artists, the group exhibition comes boldly as artists respond to present conditions with resourcefulness and innovation.
Position Paper (Year 3) continues until September 17, 2020. For inquiries and shopping, start here.
