Sequential Practice in Abstraction by Albert Yonathan Setyawan

Symmetry is human nature in its form as humans have bilateral body symmetry. In some ways, symmetry can be seen as something sterile and rigid but this exhibition proves that it is more than that. Indonesian artist Albert Yonathan Setyawan creates symmetry through sequences in Variations on Symmetry. As in decorative arts, sequences of objects and images bring forth symmetry, showing meditative quality and religious association. Setyawan's medium-based art practice allows for engagement with the medium in the process of creation.
