Industrial materials find new purpose and aesthetic value in Li Tao’s “Universe”. While it can be described literally, it can also be seen as an allegorical creation of works made from aluminum. Its unfamiliar structure permits a raw impression even with all of it being products of different rendering techniques. The steel bars and tank plates, exposed and reshaped into an “intermediate state”, allowing for an unfinished look; rendering it at an unstable condition, the works are best presented for its holistic aura. The large installation, though can be pieced like puzzles make better image if seen as a whole.
