About the Artist

Vin Quilop is a young and budding urban sketcher who mostly paints en plein air. His practice attempts to explore the concept of space through his preferred medium at present—that is, watercolor.

He often finds inspiration in his travels—immersing himself in new places, and the locals and the cultures situated in them. He also takes cues from the French impressionists and anime, particularly the films by Studio Ghibli and Makoto Shinkai.

Prior to occupying himself with questions on space, he primarily paints portraitures, both for personal and commercial purposes, using various media, such as acrylic and digital. In fact, he has been commissioned to work on figure-based illustrations by several print and web publications. Before deciding to pursue his art full-time, he was an Art Director for a multi-national advertising agency.
