In the grand scheme of things, what will always be remembered is how a story starts and ends. Often forgotten are the sliver of moments where everything is in suspense, waiting for a trigger to tell which direction a narrative will go. But there is beauty in uncertainty, where everything is suspended in a moment of possibilities and unsolved puzzle pieces.
Thea Quiachon’s solo online release, Hidden Tales, represents stories that are cut in the middle of their unfolding. In this collection, the artist’s distinct technique with impasto becomes a device to capture junctures of time at its most inconspicuous. Bold daubs of paint catch life in split seconds, hanging in a sense of incompleteness. These are moments before everything comes to a close—where there is still space for hope to assume.
