About the Artist

Based in Sta. Cruz, Baclayon, Bohol, Jeffrey Ronald L. Sisican (b. 1972) is a Fine Arts graduate of the University of the Philippines-Cebu, majored in painting. Jeffrey had always been fascinated with nature and current and historical events. After art school, he worked as a product designer for an export company in Cebu. He resigned six months later for his health and had since decided to become a full-time painter.

In that time, the year 2003, Jeffrey participated in a print workshop held by the Printmakers Association of the Philippines, which encouraged the artist to learn and adopt other media. Come 2010, Jeffrey was a finalist at the Taiwan International Print Biennale; in 2014, Jeffrey helped represent Bohol for the 2014 VIVA ExCon (Visayas Islands Visual Artists Exhibition and Conference) in Bacolod City, with a Monoprint entry depicting the 2013 Bohol earthquake.

The artist has since expanded his choice of mediums, ranging from painting to printmaking and mixed media. He has participated in group shows in Bohol, Cebu, Bacolod, and Manila, and has seven solo shows to his name. Last November 2019, Jeffrey was among the Boholano artists selected for the NCCA Gallery exhibit SUGID, curated by Leo Abaya. Jeffrey is also a founding member of Bohol Pop, a collective seeking to promote contemporary art in and beyond Bohol.
